I have the best fans in the world... and the art collector who requested this piece, is a clear example why.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and when most folks come across a back issue of Dazzler #14... it barely even registers. Whenever I see that issue, my heart skips a beat. That issue was the very first time I saw my name printed in a Marvel Comic book... because of a drawing I submitted.
Years before I got my first professional gig, years before anyone ever took me seriously; I snail-mailed a Dazzler drawing for a Marvel Art Contest. I didn't win, but I didn't feel like a loser either. The good folks at Marvel printed my name in there just the same... and I couldn't be happier. It was pure fan-boy heaven, and nothing beats that rush and validation.
I've had this cover image kicking around in my head for long as I can remember. I've always wanted to draw my own version of this classic Clash of Titans. If not for the recent request, this image would probably never have made it out of my head... and onto a sheet of Bristol Board.
the DISCO Dazzler and the SAVAGE She-Hulk, together again, for the very first time... Franchesco Style! Today I can scratch this image off my wish-list, and I couldn't be happier he loves the way the piece turned out. Yup, I have the best fans in the world!!!
Great piece. I should know since I own it, LOL. It's been awhile and I think it's almost time for another commission. Thanks again Franchesco, it's one of my favorites in my art collection!
As a good friend of DeadDog, let me echo his sentiment. GREAT FRIGGIN' JOB!!! And, as a colonist...might I ask permission to try my hand at coloring it?
